Welcome back to the Daily Newsbyte, featuring a big announcement from Feed Me, the opportunity of a Dada Life-time, sweet new tech to drool over, and more. Have an awesome Wednesday.

Feed Me Feeds The Hungry (Fans)

Although we may have seen the last of DJ sets from Feed Me for a while (unless you can make it to Pacha Ibiza), fans can rejoice in the fact that a full-length Feed Me album is coming in September on his own label. Jon Gooch, aka that little green goblin we all love, announced his forthcoming studio project rather unceremoniously on Twitter today.

Not much else to report at the moment, but check back for more announcements from Feed Me regarding the next set of tunes by which to go nuts. You sure do know what we like, little guy. Props.

A Lean, Mean New Logic Pro

logic pro x Daily Newsbyte 7.17

Since Apple acquired Emagic, the German company responsible for Logic, their game has been to simplify the interface, which has a reputation for being one of the most sophisticated, yet hard-to-use DAWs (digital audio workstations) on the market. MacWorld’s review calls Logic Pro X a “major leap in that direction.”

Apple and Emagic have shifted around some of the most-used elements for improved functionality, such as moving the “Transport” buttons to the top and moving the library to the left, among other tweaks. They’ve also added a remote function via iPad and the “Track Stack” feature, which allows users to compile similar tracks into one collapsable folder to reduce clutter during production. The overhaul also offers more features built specifically for drummers and bass players as opposed to Logic 9′s guitarist-centric bells and whistles. Read MacWorld’s comprehensive review here, and pick up Logic Pro X for $200 in the App Store.

They Are 138

Apparently all the joking around about the “Who’s Afraid Of 138!?” concept, by which the namesake track and ASOT radio show were inspired, has struck a chord with Armin van Buuren and the team. Although Glen Danzig might not approve, Armin announced that the phrase will also be the name of his newest record label, featuring the more uplifting and faster styles of trance.

”I really love this sound. And not just me. There’s so many true fans of uplifting out there. The ‘Who’s Afraid of 138?!’ area of ASOT600 in Den Bosch was absolutely packed, and social media bursts with 138 fans. I can’t wait to see what goodies the record label will bring.”

The first release on the label will be Photographer’s remix of Who’s Afraid Of 138!?, an appropriately tempo-ed (and titled) track for the new niche label’s inaugural print. Learn more here.

A Completely BNNS Remix Contest

rules of dada contest Daily Newsbyte 7.17

Haven’t received your Dada Land citizenship documents yet? Not to worry. Penning the next great anthem for the nation surely grants immediate status. Thanks to the latest idea to come out of the Swedish duo’s heads, fans have the opportunity to have their Rules Of Dada re-work included on the official “Remixed” album via the Rules Of Dada Remix Contest.

The rules are simple: Entries must be unique and use no one else’s songs but the stems from the Dada ditty chosen to be remixed. Fans will decide on the 10 best remixes of each track, and the Dada boys themselves will be selecting the big winners for each of 10 tunes to be the official remixes on the album. Visit the contest site for the stems and more detailed requirements. There are no linitations on submissions, but the deadline for entries is Aug. 9, so don’t dawdle.

Endless Summer(time Sadness)

Cedric Gervais released the video for his remix of Lana Del Rey’s Sumertime Sadness today, and it’s a haunting visual representation of the happy track with very somber lyrics. The vid is a long string of spooky imagery (keep an eye out for a The Ring nod) covered in a retro vibe and intentionally rough video quality. Pick up the tune here on Beatport.
